Farm: Poultry or Egg Producer

Class code 0034 is used for employees that work at acreages or facilities that raise poultry, turkeys, squabs, and eggs for eating or breeding purposes. The shelter, feeding, watering, and cleaning of pens or cages is included in this code. Insureds contracted for a single process such as egg processing, hatchery operations, de-beaking, caponizing, vaccinating and producing feed also fall into this category. Chicken catchers, insureds hired by chicken farming operations to catch or round up chickens, are also considered in this Code. As of July 1, 1996, poultry sexers have been reclassified to Code 8831, as they do not operate a poultry farm, really, but perform duties considered to be of a veterinary nature. Insured’s which incubate and ship day-old chicks would also be excluded.
