Residential Cleaning Services

Class code 0917 is used for employees that perform inside work related to residential cleaning or janitorial services as a contractor. This classification includes job duties such as dusting, mopping or sweeping floors, vacuuming rugs and carpets, and cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms. All work done under class code 0917 is provided on a contract basis and would exclude employees that clean and prepare residential properties for future occupants.

In addition, this classification also includes employees that act in the capacity of a cook, house cleaner, laundry worker, maid, butler, companion, pet sitter or nanny for individuals. Work must be performed on a contract basis and be done in the customer’s home. Duties vary greatly but include preparing meals, basic housekeeping tasks, providing supervision or companionship, and walking and feeding pets.

Operations that are excluded from class code 0917 that should be separately classified include workers who provide physical or medical assistance (such as you would find in a nursing home or assisted living facility) and those who are employed by an animal kennel, pet day care, or doggie day camp program.
