Class code 3188 is used for employees that work within a facility that manufactures products that are used by the plumbing trade, not otherwise classified. These may include such things as expansion joints, couplings, unions, elbows, tees, crosses, returns, lock nuts, flanges, plugs, faucets, and other related products. Operations will vary, depending on the product that is being produced, by may include machining, sheet metal forming, welding, heat-treating, pipe cutting or bending, threading, reaming and incidental ferrous or non-ferrous foundry operations as well. In addition, there is typically some form of plating, polishing, assembling, inspecting and packaging done on a large scale.

Examples of things that may be related to the plumbing trade, but that would be excluded from class code 3188 would include blacksmithing, forging work, and the manufacturing of pipes or tubes (iron or steel), drivers, tools, brass or copper goods, and valve or water meters.
