Oil or Gas Well: Instrument Logging or Survey Work

Class code 6237 is used for employees that perform instrument logging or survey work in connection with gas or oil pipelines, including drivers. Examples of jobs that are commonly performed by those in this classification include, but are not limited to, detection and analysis of oil or gas using flow tests, hole pressure tests, well temperature tests, well depth tests, and volume tests, testing to determine if a hole has any angle of deviation, determining the characteristics of the earth where the drilling was performed, oil analyzing and testing done on-site, logging or survey work, maintaining records, and taking measurements.

Exclusions to class code 6237 would be other wire-line type duties such as installation, repair, or service of drilling equipment, plugs, valves, and tubing, well cleaning, and retrieval work from the well.
