Class code 8001 is used for employees that work for a wholesale or retail florist store, including drivers. General operations that are included within this classification are cutting and arranging fresh flowers, watering and tending to potted shrubs, trees, or plants, delivery and set-up of floral arrangements at customer’s premises or event site, and other related duties necessary for the sale of flowers in this capacity. Also included within class code 8001 are employees that work for plantscaping operations. These employees work to maintain living plants within a customer’s location. Examples of this type of work would be potted plants used to decorate offices, hotels, malls, etc. Duties for plantscaping employees will usually include watering, fertilizing, spraying, and trimming indoor plants of various sizes and varieties.

Operations not covered by class code 8001 include dealers of garden supplies (even if they sell potted plants similar to a florist shop), cultivating or gardening operations, landscape or lawn work, or employees of farm operations or nurseries that raise flowers and plants to sell to florist stores or other retail locations.
