Class code 8603 is used for employees that work in a clerical capacity for an architectural or engineering firm that engages in creating layouts, plans, and illustrations of buildings, systems, structures, or components. Job duties must be performed in an office setting to qualify for this classification and will generally be related to drafting technical plans or drawings. Drafters under class code 8603 may use Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems, as well as manual drafting a sketching. Exclusions from this class code would be work that is of the same nature or similar, but performed by architects and engineers instead of clerical employees. Division of payroll is not allowed in this case.
