This is an all inclusive classification that includes clerical workers, drivers, messengers, and other positions like cleaning and maintenance employees. Work is typically done inside an office location but may also include investigative work as well as trial appearances. In addition, employees of businesses that provide court reporting services, take depositions, and record legal proceedings should also be assigned to class code 8820. Exclusions to this classification include “in-house” attorneys employed by business organizations, as well as anyone not meeting the requirements of this class code in the Basic Manual.
