Perishable vegetables refer to crops that involve successive plantings and continuous harvesting in order to reach the market over the growing season. Code 0008 typically refers to crops requiring more hand cultivation, picking, and preparation, such as tomatoes. However, there is no distinction made between using equipment to grow and harvest the vegetables or doing so by hand.
The following is a list of specific crops associated with Code 0008: asparagus, beans (green), beets (table), broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, eggplant, horseradish, kale, lettuce, onions (green), parsnips, peppers, radishes, rhubarb, rutabagas, spinach, sweet corn, taro, tomatoes, turnips, zucchini. Exclusions to code 0008 include potato crops and transport drivers.
