Class code 0050 is used for employees that work for a company that provides contract farm machinery operations, including drivers. Businesses within this classification will generally rent and operate agricultural machinery or equipment at the customer’s location on a contract basis. Examples of job duties performed under class code 0050 are planting, fertilizing, cultivating, bailing, and harvesting. Equipment that is commonly used to perform these tasks include plows, fertilizer spreaders, combines, reapers, pickers, portable hay balers, and feed mills. Additionally, the application or injection of anhydrous ammonia to soil, the spraying of insecticides to control insects that damage crops, feed manufacturing using portable devices at the customer’s farm, brush or weed control using chemicals dispensed from a portable sprayer, and corn shelling operations are also included within this class code.

Exclusions to class code 0050 that are similar in nature and scope, but that should be separately classified include things such as insect control using poisonous gases in connection with tent fumigation, operations that are not performed within a farm setting, and those insured that do not work for a company in a contract capacity.
