Oil or Gas Well: Cleaning or Swabbing of Old Wells

Class code 1322 is used for employees that are considered specialist contractors that clean or swab oil or gas wells. These “work-over jobs” will not involve any drilling and have their primary function in restoring or increasing productivity to a producing or previously producing well. When classifying workers to this class code, it is important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified. Class code 1322 should not be used by oil or gas lease owners and operators, for those who operate a facility on contract for the owner, for work done on a new well that is not yet completed, or for drivers of any type.
