Class code 2883 is used for employees that create finished products from rough or surfaced lumber, plywood, or fiberboard in a furniture or cabinet manufacturing shop, not otherwise classified. Machinery used to created these products includes but is not limited to saws, planers, lathes, jointers, molders, routers, shapers, sanders, and buffers, as well as equipment to apply stains, varnishes, lacquers, or paints. Code 2883 includes assembling and finishing products with power machinery as well as applying stain or lacquer. This Code also includes the manufacturing of wood signs with power machinery, billiard tables, cabinets for audio or visual devices, and the installation of components for devices, piano cases, and cigar boxes. Also included in this classification is the manufacture of furniture and frame parts assembled into pieces such as chairs, buffets, dressers, chests, beds and other furniture. The manufacture of trunks covered by this code includes several processes, including the machine cutting of plywood as well as the processing of cloth, imitation leather and light sheet metal. Hinges and locks, which are usually purchased from outside sources, are then riveted and nailed into place. If they are made by the insured, this work is subject to a division of payroll.

Class code 2883 also includes the manufacturing of airplane subassemblies made of wood, cedar chests, the making of wood toilet products such as tanks, seats, or cabinets, the manufacture of wooden lamps and wooden bases such as those used for award plaques and trophies, the manufacture of speaker enclosures or boxes, as well as the assembly of speaker units (such as woofers and/or tweets) inside the enclosure.

Exclusions from this classification that are similar in nature include barrel stock manufacturing, brush or broom assembly, furniture and cabinet shops that assemble by hand, match and pencil manufacturing operations, musical instrument manufacturing, and anyone working within a planing or molding mill.
