Class code 3681 is used for employees that work in the manufacturing of apparatus related to the telecommunications industry, specifically telephones, telegraphs, and other related electronic products used for radio and television industries. Examples of products that may be made are electronic circuit boards, complete radio and television sets, hearing aids, condensers, coils, transformers, sockets, switches, antennae, speaker units, phones, dials, plugs, rheostats, arrestors, resistors, printed circuits, and wiring harnesses for radio and television sets. In addition, custom coil winding of electronic coils used in aircraft control devices and computers and electrical control relays for aircraft missiles and miniature compensators are also included. Standard tools that may be used by those within this classification include things such as sheet metal shears, lathes, punch presses, saws, and drill presses. Circuit board manufacturing may also require chemical dipping and drilling operations.

While the manufacturing of complete satellite dishes is excluded, those producing only the electronic components may still be classified under 3681. Other related industry work that would need to be excluded from this classification includes computing, recording, or office machine manufacturing, office machine, appliance, or electrical equipment installation, inspection, adjustment, or repair, and electrical apparatus manufacturing, not otherwise classified.
