Class Code 3821 Rates & Quotes

Automobile Recycling

Class code 3821 is used for employees that work in a facility that recycles automobiles, including dismantling operations, salvage yards, and parts junking businesses. This classification includes all employees that actually participate in the recycling process, including drivers or those that tow vehicles to the yard for recycling purposes. Employees that simply work in a store selling used parts of recycled portions would be separately classified. Dismantling and recycling work may include such things as the removal of saleable parts using hand tools and the breaking up or stripping of the chassis and bodies with acetylene torches or shears, as well as the reconditioning or repairing of parts salvaged. These operations may be performed on a variety of automobiles, aircrafts, tractors, or trolleys.

Operations that are similar in nature, but that are excluded from class code 3821 would include the manufacturing of vehicles, constructions equipment, or agricultural machinery and anyone who is considered a dealer of new or used, not recycled, machinery or automobiles.
