Class code 4279 is used for employees that work within a paper goods manufacturing facility. Products produced within the scope of this classification may include such things as paper napkins, toilet tissue, paper towels, paper plates, tissues, fruit wrapping paper, doilies, strip lace paper, wallpaper, and other paper products, not otherwise classified. In most cases, plain rolls of paper, received from others, would be cut to the desired size, embossed or perforated if needed, then glued or pasted, labeled, inspected, and finally packaged for distribution. Work may be done either by hand or by machinery, depending on the specific operation that is being performed.

Another job that is considered within class code 4279 is the manufacturing of paper book matches or stick matches. The process to make these products is slightly different, and will require the use of materials such as paraffin, pine blocks, red phosphorus, ground glass, fine sand, and antimony sulfide, in addition to paper and/or cardboard.

Exclusions to this classification include the manufacturing of paper bags, stationery, paper boxes, corrugated or fiberboard containers, and paper dress patterns. Printing companies and those operations specializing in paper corrugating and laminating would also be excluded.
