Class code 4558 is used for employees that work within a facility that manufactures all types of paints, including lacquers and varnishes. Products produced under this classification may be either water or oil based, and will generally be made using raw materials such as pigments, drying oils, binders, whiting, varnishes, resins, solvents, thinners, and paint extenders. Job duties will vary in scope from operation to operation, but may include such things as mixing and grinding, operating milling machines, piping of the product to filling machines, and labeling, inspecting, and sealing cans. Additionally, the manufacture of various paintbrush cleaners and paint thinners is also included, as is those employees that work in the manufacturing of whiting, putty, and caulking compounds.
