Class code 5146 is used for employees that work in the business of installing portable furniture or fixtures, not otherwise classified. Jobs are generally performed at various sites, such as offices or retail stores, and include things like bulletin boards, chalkboards, corkboards, display tables, dental equipment, door closures, filing equipment, lockers, modular workstations, hospital equipment, shelving, soda counters, stock bins, theater seating, partitions, and showcases. While parts for the furniture or fixtures will be manufactured from outside sources, employees under this class code will usually be required to assemble them using hand tools and minor carpentry or sheet metal work is allowed. Any installation requiring electrical or plumbing work to be done, however, would be excluded.

In addition, employees that install floating or access flooring would also be included within the scope of class code 5146. Typically, these types of floors are supported by pedestal jacks and provide space under the floor for equipment, cables, piping, conduits, etc. The setting up and taking down of exhibits or booths at trade shows and conventions would also be included. While this is a NOC classification and will include a variety of employees and job descriptions, some related industries that should be excluded are sign installations and office machine or appliance installations. This class code is also not to be used for employees that work in the manufacture or installation of sheet metal goods.
