Class Code 5188 Rates & Quotes

Automatic Sprinkler Installation

Class code 5188 is used for employees that install automatic fire extinguishing sprinkler systems, including drivers. The types of automatic systems that are installed will vary greatly, but may include those containing chemicals that dissolve at a set temperature, dry-head sprinklers, and deluge systems. Both shop and field work is allowable under class code 5188 and includes job duties such as cutting and threading of pipe, selection of materials (such as fittings, heads, couplings, valves, hangers, regulators, alarms, etc.), running of sprinkler lines through walls, floor, and ceilings, and working on staging or other temporary platforms as required. When classifying workers to this class code, it is important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified. Operations that install sprinkler systems not used for fire extinguishing purposes, like lawn sprinkler systems, are excluded from this classification.
