Class code 5222 is used for employees that perform concrete construction work that is in connection with bridges or culverts (meeting the clearance criteria), as well as those who construct or erect industrial or commercial chimneys. Additionally, tuck pointing work, done in connection with chimney construction or repair, is also allowed under the scope of class code 5222. Work may include such things as setting up or taking down forms and scaffolds, the use of false work or concrete distributing apparatuses, manufacturing concrete piles at the job location, and the pouring of concrete into hollow steel piles.

Any employee that performs excavation work or pile driving operations, that works inside of a tunnel, subway, cofferdam, or caisson, and those who are part of a concrete pumping operation should be excluded and separately classified. Finally, when classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
