Class code 5437 is used for employees whose work is carpentry related, specifically the installation of cabinet work or interior trim and finishing work. Examples of work that may be completed within the scope of this classification include molding, paneling, cornices, parquet or finished wooden flooring, counters, cabinets, mantels, staircases, interior doors, and other related things requiring skilled workmanship. The installation of countertops, made with laminate, plastic, veneer, particleboard, pressed wood, solid wood, botcher block, Corian, or other similar solid surfaces is also allowed. While job duties will vary depending on the finishing work being done, some common operations are measuring, cutting, routing, drilling holes, sanding, and attaching.
Related operations that are excluded from class code 5437 include those performing rough carpentry work of any kind, insured’s who install tile, granite, marble, or other stone countertops, and employees who install unfinished hardwood flooring and laminate flooring using glue-down or interlocking methods.
