Class code 5443 is used for employees that work for lathing operations, including drivers. The scope of this classification consists of both interior and exterior lathing work, performed as a support system to which plaster or stucco are applied to. Work generally involves the nailing of thin wood or metal strips to joists or studs, as well as cleanup operations. Metal lathing, which is used for concrete reinforcement purposes, is excluded from class code 5443, as well as the actual application of stucco or plaster to the lathed surface. When classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
