Class code 6017 is used for employees that perform concrete work that is done in connection with dam or lock construction or repair projects. Examples of duties that may be performed include, but are not limited to, making, setting up, or removing of forms, false work, scaffolds, or concrete distributing apparatuses and the mixing, pouring, and finishing of concrete structures. Additionally, class code 6017 is also used to classify temporary concrete batch plant operations at construction sites of dams or locks. This class code is all inclusive, and includes all operations that are performed within the scope of this type of work.

Exclusions to this class code include any person or operation that is involved with excavation, pile driving, tunneling, caisson or cofferdam work, or shaft sinking, as well as concrete work done for construction projects not related to dams or locks. When classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
