Class code 6213 is used for employees that work for an operation that leases tools and equipment specific to oil or gas well drilling functions. Typically, these will include hydraulic power units, swab rigs, wireline units, cementing manifolds, weights/pipe collars, baskets, beams, flanges, elevators, scrapers, and pumps. The leasing agreement will usually require that personnel supervise the use of the equipment and/or tools, but actual operations will be done by an outside crew or contractor, not employed by the leasing company. This class code is all inclusive, and includes all employees, including drivers.

Exclusions that are similar in nature, but that should be classified separately include those who test or inspect oil or gas pipelines, those who operate an oil or gas pipeline, drilling or redrilling workers, and those involved in construction portions of an oil or gas line, such as contractors, cement workers, or installers. When classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
