Class code 6260 is used for employees that perform all operations necessary for the construction of pneumatic tunnels. Because this is an all inclusive class code, the scope will cover lining operations, those who work under air pressure, and any other employee that is required to work in the tunnel or on connecting apparatuses. Generally, the process for constructing the pneumatic tunnel will begin with sinking steel caissons to the appropriate depth for construction, proceeding to the center (until breakthrough), removing materials to the surface, construction of the steel lining in the tunnel bore, forcing concrete between walls and lining, and then opening breakthrough portals to ground connections.
