Class code 6319 is used for employees that perform all operations of gas main, steam main, and water main construction, as well as those who construct any related connections. This classification is all-inclusive and will cover workers performing a variety of work, including drivers. Contractors who meet the requirements of this class code may perform a variety of construction related tasks, as well as incidental excavation of land, landscaping work, and pipe, coupling, and fitting fabrication operations in connection with construction.

Tunneling that makes use of air pressure, done in connection with construction (not at street crossings), and pipeline construction from natural gas producing fields is excluded and should be separately classified. When classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
