Class code 6400 is used for employees that install, erect, or repair fencing of all types. This would include metal fencing like chain link, woven wire, wrought iron, barbed wire, etc, wood fencing, vinyl fencing, and even prefabricated concrete panel fencing installed by hand. Fencing may be temporary or permanent in nature, and even includes right-of-way fencing. Exclusions to this class code that are similar in nature but that should be separately classified includes the erection of concrete fences that require a crane, hoist, or backhoe to install and highway fence or guardrail construction. When classifying workers to this class code, it is also important to follow the extra-territorial classification guidelines for each worker to ensure that they are properly classified.
