Class Code 8018 Rates & Quotes

Store: Wholesale NOC

Class code 8018 is used for employees that work in a wholesale store, not otherwise classified. Stores within the scope of this classification will be those who sell merchandise in a wholesale or mail order capacity that is not specific to another wholesale store classification in the Basic Manual. Examples of items that are commonly included are cigars and cigarettes, art supplies, musical instruments, computers, candy, greeting cards, hotel supplies, beer and soft drinks, tires (no installation), giftware, cosmetics and toiletry items, small household appliances, lamps and lighting fixtures, paint and related supplies, radios, housewares, stationery, photographic supplies and equipment, pocketbooks, televisions, wines and liquors, toys, and sheet music.

Duties that are generally associated with class code 8018 include maintenance of warehouse inventories, the assembling, sorting, and grading of goods, breaking and repackaging of bulk quantities, and other various aspects of promoting and selling goods to retailers and other buyers. Others covered within this classification include businesses that incubate and ship day-old chicks, sawdust dealers, charcoal in bag dealers, rug and carpet storage facilities, fruit, vegetable, and grocery stores and dealers whose primary business is of a wholesale nature, and those that deal with packaging consolidation and receiving.

While this is a NOC classification and will include a variety of stores, retail locations that sell primarily to the general public will be excluded. Employees working for a business that exclusively buys, sells, and distributes kitchen cabinets or other assembled millwork products should be separately classified as well. Wholesale operations whose products fall into other classifications, such as drugs and medicines, wholesale plywood dealers, newspapers and magazines, beer and ale in bottles, carpet and flooring installers, and certain fireworks wholesalers would also be excluded.
