Class code 8393 is used for employees that work for an automobile body repair business. Operations within this classification generally perform fiberglass, metal, or plastic body repair work as well as any incidental painting and upholstering that is required. Job duties will vary by location and employee, but may include things like estimating damage and repair costs, removing panels or parts, realigning bent frames, repairing small dents, hand forming replacement parts, welding parts to the bodies, replacement of broken glass, sanding, painting, and reupholstering. Tools and machinery that are commonly used in this trade are acetylene torches, hydraulic equipment, welding apparatus, dent removal tools, and miscellaneous hand tools. In addition, operations that perform van conversion work are also included, as would their employees.

Exclusions to class code 8393 would include service stations, those who sell automobile parts or accessories, and tow truck drivers.
